Be Still

Posted by Paul Hernandez on Thursday, January 23, 2014, In : Devotionals

Psalm 46:10, 11 says:
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

It is a difficult time in the life of our church.  A time of grieving and uncertainty.   And as I was praying today, I asked God what I should share with you today.  He brought the words of this Psalm to mind.  Later in the day I was chatting online with a voiceover friend and telling her about all tha...

Shaken But Not Stirred

Posted by Paul Hernandez on Thursday, January 9, 2014, In : Devotionals

Recently, I've been going through a series of very stressful situations in several areas of my life.  The old saying "when it rains it pours" sure seems to be ringing true for me right now.  It seems that every year, God puts me into situations where I have to deal with more and more, and take on more responsibilities in many cases.  I'd like to say that I have all the answers and that none of this made me depressed or anxious, but that just wouldn't be true.

Come Just As You Are

In the song by Brian Doerksen we sing “Come, now is the time to worship, come just as you are before your God”.

One of the reasons I hate religion is because it tells people that you have to do certain things or follow a set of rules or rituals in order to be accepted by God.  God says the exact opposite.  In Ephesians 2:8-9 it says “for it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.” ...

Give God Your Best

Posted by Paul Hernandez on Thursday, September 12, 2013, In : Devotionals

Because many of the worship songs we do come fairly easy to me, I must admit that it's easy for me to get into a routine where I can say "Oh, I'll figure it out on Thursday" or "Once we practice on Thursday, I'll be ready for Sunday".  While this may be the case, I think God might view that as laziness on my part.

Romans 12:11-12 (NLT)
Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.  Be glad for all God is planning for you.  Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful.

I, as ...
