7 Ways Satan Attacks The Church

February 28, 2014
Do you find that you are attacked when trying to do good?  When just simply trying to do what God has asked you to do?  Well this usually happens to people who are serving in the church and rarely to those who aren't.  As an added bonus, the attacks will many times come from people within the church itself.  Jesus told us in John 16:33 that "In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world"

As I was pondering today's devotional, I found this article online which talks about 7 ways Satan tries to destroy a church.    I provide the link for you here so you can read it in it's entirety.

Be Still

January 23, 2014

Psalm 46:10, 11 says:
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

It is a difficult time in the life of our church.  A time of grieving and uncertainty.   And as I was praying today, I asked God what I should share with you today.  He brought the words of this Psalm to mind.  Later in the day I was chatting online with a voiceover friend and telling her about all tha...

Shaken But Not Stirred

January 9, 2014

Recently, I've been going through a series of very stressful situations in several areas of my life.  The old saying "when it rains it pours" sure seems to be ringing true for me right now.  It seems that every year, God puts me into situations where I have to deal with more and more, and take on more responsibilities in many cases.  I'd like to say that I have all the answers and that none of this made me depressed or anxious, but that just wouldn't be true.

As I was pondering where I'm at an...

Praise The Lord

January 2, 2014

Psalm 112:1-3
Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

Reading through this Psalm today it struck me that the first words the Psalmist writes to begin speaking about a blessed life is Praise The Lord.  A blessed life begins with a relationship with God, knowing God intimately an...

Trust In The Lord

October 24, 2013

On Tuesday night while at dinner, Debbie began experiencing a major headache which came out of no where and continued to get worse and last for hours.  We took her to Urgent Care (aka... Eventual Care or They Don't Care)  only to find out they didn't have time or room to see her.  We went to the ER and waited and waited before a doctor could see her, get her on some pain meds and the order a CAT Scan.  Patience is NOT one of my virtues and I found myself getting more irritated and angry at wh...

Handling Stress

October 17, 2013

Matthew 6:25-27
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying ad a single hour to your life?

I have read this verse many times and thought of it often when I am stresse...

Reflections Of Christ

October 10, 2013

2 Cor 2:14-17 (NIV)
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.  For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ aong those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  To the one weare an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life.  And who is equal to such a task?  nlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit.  On the contrary, in Christ we sp...

Be Anxious For Nothing

October 3, 2013

Phil 4:6-7 (NASB)
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, make your requests know to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

If you're like me, it's easy to get stressed out by things like traffic or finances or a number of other things that are often beyond our control.  This week we had our yearly 2 day Sharathon fun raising event at the station.  Based on our day to d...

Don't Grow Weary

September 26, 2013

Galatians 6:7-10 (NIV)
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

There have been man...

Come Just As You Are

September 19, 2013

In the song by Brian Doerksen we sing “Come, now is the time to worship, come just as you are before your God”.

One of the reasons I hate religion is because it tells people that you have to do certain things or follow a set of rules or rituals in order to be accepted by God.  God says the exact opposite.  In Ephesians 2:8-9 it says “for it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.” ...
